Celebrating our new Young High Sheriff

We’re so proud of Vongai Masoka, who has been appointed as Young High Sheriff for Warwickshire! This unique opportunity will see Vongai, along with Hermione Knight and Hayden Marsh, take on exciting leadership roles both in school and across the county.

We are incredibly proud to share that Hartshill Academy pupil, Vongai Masoka, has been appointed as Young High Sheriff for Warwickshire — an amazing opportunity to experience one of the oldest and most respected civic roles in the country.

The High Sheriff role dates back over 1,000 years and today focuses on supporting the Crown and judiciary, while promoting community spirit and voluntary work. Through a special opportunity offered to our Year 10 and 11 pupils, they were invited to apply to become a Young High Sheriff for a day.

After an impressive round of applications, Vongai was chosen to take on the role and will be shadowing Karen Lynch MBE, the current High Sheriff of Warwickshire. This exciting experience will allow Vongai to see first-hand how the High Sheriff supports local charities, voluntary organisations and communities across the county.

We are also delighted to congratulate Hermione Knight and Hayden Marsh, who were appointed as Under Sheriffs. Over the year ahead, they will take part in special events and help lead crime prevention workshops here at school — giving pupils a chance to discuss important topics and make a positive difference to our community.

Speaking about the programme, Lorraine Taylor, Principal, said:

“We are so proud of Vongai, Hermione and Hayden for stepping forward to take on these leadership roles. Opportunities like this help our pupils develop confidence, responsibility and a sense of pride in serving their community. They have shown what it means to live our values of Heart, Ambition, Respect and Tenacity, and they truly reflect our commitment to Education with Character.”
