Applying for a place at Hartshill Academy

We are delighted that you are considering Hartshill Academy for your child. Choosing the right school is an important decision, and we warmly invite all parents to visit us and see our academy in action. Admissions to Hartshill Academy are managed by Warwickshire County Council. To apply for a place, you will need to complete the online application form available on the Warwickshire County Council Webiste

In-Year Admissions

We accept in-year admissions into any year group. To apply for a place, please complete the application form on the Warwickshire County Council Admission website. https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/admissions 

Published Admission Number 

The published admission number for year 7 at Hartshill Academy is 210. When the number of applicants for this age group is below this number, then all applicants will be admitted.

Oversubscription

Where the number of applications for admission is greater than the published admission number and after the admission of children with statements of Special Educational Needs where the academy is named on the statement, applications will be considered against the criteria below and in the order in which they are set out:

i. A ‘looked after child’ or a child who was previously looked after but immediately 

after being looked after became subject to an adoption, residence, or special 

guardianship order. See appendix 1 of the policy for a definition of an adoption order and a 

residence order1

ii. Children living in the priority area1 who will have a sibling1 at the academy at the 

time of admission. See appendix 1 of the policy for a definition of the priority area and a sibling.

iii. Other pupils living in the priority area. 

iv. Children living outside the priority area who will have a sibling at the academy at 

the time of admission. 

v. Other children living outside the priority area. 

Within each oversubscription category, decisions are based on the distance1 between the child’s home address1 and the school site, with priority going to those living nearest the school site. See appendix 1 of the policy for a definition of distance and home address.

Where the final place is offered to one of twins (or triplets etc.) each twin etc. will be admitted even if that means going above the admission number.

Appeals

Parents/Carers whose application for a place is unsuccessful, have the right to appeal the decision. This must be expressed in accordance with the Schools Admissions Criteria. Should you wish to appeal please follow the process on the Warwickshire County Council Admission website.
